Changing a company name on a website may take a few minutes.

Changing it across years of CAD documentation is different.

Turn the Rebrand Into a Replacement List

Most text-based drawing rebrands can be described as a set of clear replacement rules.

The same list can then be applied consistently across the selected drawing set.

For a larger rebrand, the replacement list can be prepared in Excel or CSV instead of entering every pair manually.

The Company Name May Appear Outside the Title Block

Updating a title block is one common part of a rebrand, but it is not always the whole job.

The old company information may also appear in:

• general notes;
• drawing annotations;
• tables;
• callouts;
• block attributes;
• repeated block definitions;
• multiple paper-space layouts.

Some drawings contain the old company name in title-block attributes.

Others contain it in general notes or repeated block content.

A Rebrand Is Not Finished Until You Know What Changed

The biggest risk in a large drawing update is not making the obvious replacements.

It is missing the less obvious ones.

A batch process therefore needs more than a “completed” message.

When Manual Editing Is Still the Better Choice

Batch processing is not necessary for every rebrand.

Manual editing may be simpler when:

• only a few drawings are affected;
• every drawing needs different changes;
• the rebrand is mostly graphical rather than textual;
• every drawing already needs a detailed CAD review;
• project policy prohibits cloud processing.

If there are only three drawings, opening them manually may be faster than setting up a batch.

When Does Batch Rebranding Make Sense?

Batch processing becomes valuable when:

• the same old company name appears across many drawings;
• the same address or contact details need to change everywhere;
• archived drawings must be reissued under a new company name;
• an acquisition or merger requires a legal entity name change;
• a project contains dozens or hundreds of DWG files;
• multiple people previously created the drawing set;
• you need a record of the changes before issuing the updated files.

The more repetitive the change, the stronger the case for defining it once and applying it as a batch.

The Person Managing the Rebrand Does Not Need an AutoCAD Seat

Company-wide drawing updates are not always managed by the CAD operator who originally created the files.

The task may sit with:

• a CAD Manager;
• a Document Controller;
• a Project Manager;
• a BIM Coordinator;
• a technical documentation team.
