Translate the drawing text, not the drawing
Chinese engineering drawings carry text in many different places: general notes, title blocks, equipment labels, tables, leaders and block attributes.
The hard part is not translating a sentence. It is finding all of those strings across a drawing set, keeping repeated terminology consistent, and putting the approved English text back into the correct DWG entities. docuredo does that on the drawing files themselves — the geometry is never redrawn, and the DWG is never converted into a document format first.
What Chinese text can be translated?
The scan reads the text-bearing entities inside the drawing, in model space, in every paper space layout, and inside block definitions:

- Single-line drawing notes and labels.
- MTEXT
- Multiline specifications, instructions and general notes.
- ATTRIB
- Block attributes — title blocks, stamps, equipment tags and drawing metadata.
- TABLE
- Text inside schedules, legends and drawing tables.
- MULTILEADER
- Callouts and leader annotations.
- DIMENSION OVERRIDES
- Manually entered dimension text only. Measured values generated from the geometry are never touched.
- BLOCK DEFINITIONS
- Text held inside block definitions, not just the visible inserts.
Each of these is a switch you control before the scan runs. All seven are on by default, and both passes — the scan and the write-back — use the same setting, so nothing is ever written into a type you did not read.
From Chinese drawing to reviewed English DWG
1. Upload the DWG drawings
Upload the Chinese drawing set directly in your browser. The source language can be left on auto-detect and read from the drawing text; you choose English as the target.
2. Review the English translation
Repeated text is collected once across the whole set, so each unique line is shown one time with its proposed English translation. For every line you can approve it, edit it, leave the original text unchanged, or export the list so someone else can check it. Technical drawing language is abbreviated and context-dependent, which is why the review step is deliberate rather than optional.
3. Apply the approved text
Nothing is written into the drawings until you approve the review. The approved English text is then written back into the DWG text entities it came from.
4. Download and verify
Download the translated DWG files — same DWG version as the originals — and check the set before delivery.
Chinese engineering terminology needs context
A short Chinese annotation can have several defensible English translations depending on whether the drawing is architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical or manufacturing-related. That is why docuredo does not quietly translate a whole drawing and hand it back as finished. You see the proposed terminology first.

Repeated terms stay consistent
Drawing sets contain a great deal of repeated text. A project name, a drawing status, a standard note or a component description can appear on every sheet in the package. Repeated source lines are collected once for the whole project, so the same string is reviewed once and applied everywhere it occurs.
Approved translations are also stored in your account’s own private translation memory and reused when the same source text turns up on a later project — which is what makes recurring terminology and company-specific wording cheaper the second time. That memory is scoped to your account and nothing else; you can clear it at any time.
What stays unchanged?
Translation should affect language, not engineering information.
- drawing geometry;
- measured dimension values;
- layers;
- the purpose and position of drawing entities;
- the DWG workflow itself.
Pure numbers, units and codes are not treated as translatable sentences and never reach the model at all. Where a translation cannot be applied safely — an inline formatting code that would not survive the swap, for instance — the original text stays in place and the line is reported, rather than being forced through.

Can docuredo translate a Chinese DWG file directly into English?
Yes. The drawing text is scanned out of the DWG, translated into English, reviewed line by line, and written back only after you approve it.
Does the DWG have to be converted to DXF first?
No. The translation workflow works on DWG drawings directly, and the file you download is a DWG in the same version you uploaded.
Will Chinese dimensions be converted or changed?
Measured dimension values are never translated. Only text someone typed — including a manually entered dimension text override — is considered for translation.
Can I correct technical terminology before the DWG is changed?
Yes. Reviewing the proposed translations is part of the workflow, not an extra step: you can edit any line before anything is written back.
Can a Chinese-speaking engineer or professional translator review the translation?
Yes. The translation list can be reviewed by someone else before it is applied, and it exports to a spreadsheet and re-imports for exactly that.
Do I need AutoCAD installed?
